The Aslanhane Mosque
The Aslanhane Mosque is the biggest mosque of the city. This wooden and columned construction was built by Şerafeddin the leader of the Ahis in 1290. Its imperial gate, its mihrap adorned with mosaics and decorations in honeycomb shape and its minber are its most noteworthy pieces. Just in front of the mosque stands a wall adorned with tablets and reliefs representing figures of lions. It is to these reliefs that the mosque owes its name. the_aslanhane_mosque.jpg
