The Alaeddin Mosque
The Alaeddin Mosque situated in the interior part of the Citadel dates from the XlXth century although its foundations were laid in the Xllth century. Its splendid minber is well worth seeing. The Ali Elvan Mosque located on the road leading to the Acropolis which is a smaller replica of the Alaeddin Mosque was built in the XlVth century. It is a monument of the Ahi period and its minber is one of the most splendid wooden specimens of Turkish art. The Yeni Cami (The New Mosque) built in 1565 out of the stones of Ankara is the only monument of the city conceived and erected by the great architect Sinan. mosque_alaaddin.jpg
